Season Poem PAD April 11, 2015

Melodies

A leaf unfurls its

citron flag. Jays trumpet notes––

jazz tunes echo.

Sparrows weave their nests

of stray dog hair and threads. Beaks

emerge first, then wings.

Leaves skitter across

lawns, scampering to safety

from pursuing gusts.

A warped fence pokes through

powdered snow, a cardinal

bleeds crimson plumes.
